Civil and infrastructure take-off

Quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities for roads, earthworks, drainage, utilities and external works — measured to CESMM4 or the method your project specifies.

Expressway interchange with landscaped verges

Overview

Infrastructure and external works are measured differently from buildings. Quantities come from long sections, cross sections and network layouts, earthworks depend on levels and ground conditions, and items are grouped by class of work rather than by building trade.

Our quantity surveyors prepare civil and infrastructure take-offs and BoQs from your drawings and models, with clear calculation sheets so engineers can follow every quantity.

Deliverables

  1. 01

    Earthworks

Excavation, filling, cut-and-fill balances from levels and sections, disposal and imported material.

  2. 02

    Roads and paving

Sub-base, base and surface courses, kerbs, footways, road markings and signs.

  3. 03

    Drainage

Storm and foul drainage pipes, manholes, gullies, soakaways and attenuation.

  4. 04

    Utilities

Water and irrigation mains, power and telecom ducts, chambers and crossings.

  5. 05

    Minor structures

Culverts, retaining walls and similar structures measured to the relevant classes of work.

  6. 06

    Calculation sheets

Section-by-section calculations and marked-up drawings for every quantity.

Civil engineering BoQs are commonly measured to CESMM4, the Civil Engineering Standard Method of Measurement. Some clients and authorities use their own methods, or POMI for mixed building and civil work. We follow the method named in your tender documents and set out the measurement rules in the BoQ preamble.

Master-planned communities, industrial zones and large buildings all include roads, utilities and external works. We measure these alongside the building works or as separate packages, so each can be tendered to the right contractors.

  • Community and master-plan infrastructure
  • Industrial and logistics zones
  • External works around buildings
  • Road and utility upgrades

How we work

  1. 01

    Send your drawings

Share PDF, DWG or Revit files with the specifications, and tell us the measurement standard and BoQ format you need.

  2. 02

    Scope, timeline and quote

We confirm exactly what is included, the deliverables and a delivery date before any work starts.

  3. 03

    Measure and check

Graduate quantity surveyors measure the work, then a second surveyor checks quantities and descriptions against the drawings.

  4. 04

    Deliver and support

You receive editable Excel and PDF files, take-off sheets and marked-up drawings, and we answer queries and revisions.

FAQ

Which standard do you use for civil works?

We usually measure civil works to CESMM4, or to the method named in your tender documents.

Can you calculate earthworks from levels?

Yes. We calculate cut and fill from existing and proposed levels, sections or 3D surfaces, and show the method in our calculation sheets.

Do you measure building and civil works on the same project?

Yes. We measure both, using the right method for each package.
